JC Star's somersault sentonNZWPW Champion Tykade and the NZWPW Tag Team Champions, JC Star & Travis Banks, were the big winners at Tour of the Titans last night, defeating a new-look Project Mayhem in the main event of the evening.

At the top of the night, Corey Dallas and Rufguts evicted Ben Mana from Project Mayhem, before Axl joined the duo in the ring and initiated a three-on-one assault on the Maori Warrior. This new-look Project Mayhem looked to bring the fight to the NZWPW Champions in the night’s main event, but Banks, Star and Tykade proved they could give as good as they got.

Banks and Dallas were the first two men to start the match, before a tag to JC Star allowed The Five Star Revolution to double-team Dallas with a high-angle backdrop. Quick tags continued on the Champions’ team, with Tykade eventually being brought in to plant Dallas with a massive spinebuster.

After a near fall, Tykade tagged in Travis and boosted him into the air for a huge flying forearm right to Dallas’ head while he was propped in the corner. Banks crashed and burned when he tried a cross-body press from the top rope though, and Dallas set about beating him down with clubbing blows across the back.

Travis Banks crawled to his corner and tagged in JC Star, but Corey Dallas was on too much of a roll to be stopped. The NZWPW Tag Team Champions tried to suplex Dallas, but he countered into a suplex of his own on both men before tagging in Rufguts.

Bending the rules now, Rufguts gouged at JC Star’s eyes before chopping Star in the corner and nailing him with a brutal European uppercut to the back. Axl was then tagged in for a Gorilla press on JC Star.

Project Mayhem feigned entering the ring, antagonising Banks and Tykade and sending the referee to restrain the two. With the referee distracted, Dallas and Rufguts climbed through the ropes and set about triple teaming JC Star.

Rufguts was then legitimately tagged in to the match, only to get blasted with an enzuigiri from JC Star. Both men then made tags, to Corey Dallas and Travis Banks respectively.

Travis Banks took to the top rope and connected with his second cross-body press attempt of the match, but he could only keep Dallas down for a count of two before Rufguts was brought in to the match to light up Banks’ chest with some knife-edge chops before stretching Travis out in the Gory Special.

Corey Dallas tagged himself into the match with Banks still in the Gory Special, and assisted Rufguts in turning the move into a Gory Bomb with a simultaneous facebuster from Dallas as well. Project Mayhem continued to function like a well-oiled machine as Dallas tagged in Axl, but Travis Banks managed to get to the NZWPW Champion, Tykade, for a tag as well.

Tykade stormed into the ring and knocked everyone down with a series of clotheslines, before assaulting Axl in the corner with several knees to the abdomen. The action soon spilled out of the ring, and Corey Dallas launched himself through the ropes towards Axl and Tykade while the big men brawled. Dallas was caught though, and JC Star dove over the top rope with a somersault senton to wipe out all three men.

Just as everyone got back to their feet, Rufguts hurtled through the ropes with a suicide dive to once again take out everyone. Travis Banks remained in the ring though, and scaled the top rope for a massive cross-body press to take out everyone.

Somehow Project Mayhem seemed to be back to their feet before the NZWPW Champions, and Tykade was triple teamed in the ring with Axl and Dallas lifting the NZWPW Champion onto Rufguts’ shoulders for a Rufdriver in the middle of the ring. The Five Star Revolution were quick to come to Tykade’s aid though, and after tossing Axl and Dallas from the ring, JC Star struck Rufguts with the Starstruck Superkick, sending him staggering back into a German suplex from Banks.

Banks and Star left the ring to take care of Axl and Dallas while Tykade dragged the dazed Rufguts back to his feet. Hoisting Rufguts onto his shoulders, Tykade nailed the former NZWPW Champion with the Game Over and covered him for the three count, bringing and end to the exciting six-man tag team bout.

#1 contender Jon E. KingJon E. King outsmarted his opponents last night and became the #1 contender to the NZWPW Championship, defeating Adam Avalanche, Ben Mana and Chad Howard in a Fatal Four Way.

It appeared as though either Adam Avalanche or Ben Mana could be winning the match when both men slammed Howard and King to the mat respectively and made a cover. However, the referee could not work out whose pin to count, and Avalanche and Mana soon came to blows. As the big men moved their fight out of the ring, Chad Howard looked to capitalise and nail Jon E. King with a side-Russian leg-sweep. However, as Chad wrapped his leg around King, King connected with a swift shot to the groin before taking a step back and blasting Howard with the Silencer Superkick!

A pin followed and Jon E. King became the new #1 contender to Tykade’s NZWPW Championship. King will meet Tykade for the title tonight at NZWPW Tour of the Titans in Palmerston North.

NZWPW Tour of the Titans Results:

  • Hoakxz def. Hazardis
A 450 splash couldn’t keep Hazardis down, but Hoakxz picked up the win with a Shooting Star Press.

  • GI Jay def. Fred The Great and The Nerd
Jay’s Back to Boot Camp knocked The Nerd out of the ring, before another Back to Boot Camp left Fred The Great down and out for the pin.

  • Thor def. Johnny Idol
Idol avoided a Chokeslam earlier in the match by spiking Thor on his head with a DDT. Thor rallied back though and soon countered Idol’s Booty-Call Breakdown into a powerbomb. Thor broke his own cover on Idol and pulled him back to his feet for a thunderous Chokeslam to pick up the win.

  • NZWPW Championship #1 Contender’s Fatal Four Way:
Jon E. King def. Adam Avalanche, Ben Mana and Chad Howard

With Avalanche and Mana brawling their way around the ring, Jon E. King low-blowed his way out of a side-Russian leg-sweep from Chad Howard and turned his lights out with a Silencer Superkick.

  • Women’s Gauntlet Match:
Carmella Caprice def. Stellar Hammer, Misty, Chi-Tah and Rose Caprice

Chi-Tah pinned Rose Caprice. Stellar Hammer pinned Chi-Tah and then Misty after some assistance from Thor, leaving Stellar and Carmella Caprice as the last two gauntlet participants. It looked as though Stellar might go 3-0 as she hoisted Carmella up for a tilt-a-whirl side-slam, but Caprice countered and planted Hammer on her head with a DDT to pick up the win!

  • NZWPW Tag Team Championship #1 Contenders’ Match:
Saint Chaos def. The Party Seekerz

After being isolated by Saint Chaos for much of the match, Kid Caprice was finally able to tag in Mikey Rave, who nailed Curt Chaos with the Bass Drop only to have Brian Saint James break up the pin. Kid Caprice tried to enter the ring to chase Saint James off, and inadvertently distracted the referee while Brian obliterated Mikey Rave with a Lariat. Curt Chaos crawled on top of Rave, and Saint Chaos picked up the #1 contendership to the NZWPW Tag Team Championship.

  • JC Star, Travis Banks & Tykade def. Axl, Corey Dallas & Rufguts
The new-look Project Mayhem triple-teamed Tykade and placed him on Rufguts’ shoulders for a Rufdriver. The Five Star Revolution were quick to stop Project Mayhem’s momentum though with a Starstruck Superkick and German Suplex combination on Rufguts that left the former NZWPW Champion dazed and ready for Tykade to finish him with the Game Over.
